Imperial Forces of His Majesty
anzacs - australians and new zealanders
Despite being half the globe away, citizens of Australia and New Zealand eagerly attested for service in large numbers. Their bravery and sacrifices at Gallipoli and on the Western Front gained them a reputation as some of the best soldiers in the Commonwealth. Despite immense losses they continually spearheaded offensives and retained a legendary level of morale known as the "Anzac Spirit."
saoef - south africans
With the legacy of the bloody second Boer War still fresh in the minds of many, the loyalty of South Africa as part of the Commonwealth was called into question. Yet the dedicated response to the call to arms in 1914 quickly dissuaded such doubts as citizens of the nation took the fight to neighboring German colonies. Those who weren't tied up in the violent conflict on their continent were sent off to the Western Front as part of the SAEF. In both theatres South African soldiers repeatedly demonstrated their loyalty and courage earning them a place of esteem in the Commonwealth.
